As summer rolls in, its time for office end of year parties and other holiday celebrations. So before you ended up looking like this these guys, you might want to take some preventative measures
So with it being Wesley’s birthday as well, we decided to test our hangover prevention and recovery strategy.
We have a philosophy about health and fitness. We call it our 80/20 rule. 80 per cent of the time we stick to our principles in terms of being aware of what we eat and following a good exercise regiment and the other 20 per cent we allow ourselves to indulge and spoil ourselves. This is what Vinnie Tortorich calls “putting life into living”. Now even within that 20 per cent we aim to choose the best of the worst.
Back to the hangover prevention.
Before the evening starts we took about 750mg of Activated Charcoal.
Activated charcoals binds to toxins and chemical compounds which you might find in the food you eat and wine and beer that you drink. This is quite usual when don’t know the source of your food. Activated charcoal is often used for cases of food poisoning. One note of warning with activated charcoal. Do not take it with other medications. And consult your doctor or pharmacist about this.
Stick with clear spirits such as vodka and tequila since these are low in toxins and free of sugar and gluten.
Before the evening ends we took about 1500mg of N-Acetyl-Cysteine. NAC boosts your liver function and helps your body process alcohol and recover from the resulting toxic effect of alcohol.
On top of the NAC we also take about 1000mg of vitamin C. Vitamin C is a potent antioxidant. This help counter the effects of the damage done by free radicals produced when drinking alcohol.
Lastly, its important that you get enough sleep after a night out to help your body recover.
We found this work extremely well for us. After waking up we wrote this article and carried on with our day hangover free!
